DURSTON Ring Stretcher/Reducer/Bender, #1302

New high precision Ring stretcher /reducer/bender. Also includes die set for ring bender.

Durston’s design expertise brings you a high precision ring stretcher/reducer to ensure exceptionally accurate ring sizing. The heavy-duty cast iron construction gives you real durability and strength. Features include a six spline mandrel with 16 polished countersunk dies enabling you to reduce bands up to 12mm wide, while specially designed gear reduction ensures effortless forming. This model adds real versatility with a side bender which includes a precision hardened and ground bending die. With the side bender, you can bend material up to 4mm thick and shape half-round, flat, oval, and it can engrave shank material into circular rings.

To enlarge ring

Make sure lever is upright. Place ring on tapered shaft. Don't push ring on hand. Slowly move lever up and down rotating the ring as you go. After several strokes turn ring around and repeat exercise so that both sides of the ring are stretched evenly. 

 

To reduce size of ring

Make sure lever is upright. Place ring in a die which is smaller than the diameter of the ring. Approx 20-25% of the ring should stick up above surface. Turn round die plate until under punch. Slowly move the handle backwards and forwards until ring is flush with top off. Now turn ring over and repeat exercise.
